British Yoga Teacher Godfrey Devereux's Dynamic Yoga is based on a total
trust in life functioning as the human being. His teaching is a deep
invitation to access the natural functioning of life as body, mind and
spirit in their intrinsic unity. Then yoga practice becomes a remembrance
and celebration, rather than a struggle or imposition. This invitation is
based on learning to hear the simplicity and clarity of the body speaking
constantly, authentically and uncompromisingly through the continuous flow
of sensations. First joints and muscles are sensitised and awakened through
rhythmic movements (ullola). At the same time attention settles into the
natural ryhthms of awareness, as the mind quietens. Then stillness is used
to integrate body, breath, energy, mind and awareness. Within this stillness
the bandhas are used as lenses to reveal and express the structural
integrity of body, the functional integrity of the breath, and the intrinsic
luminosity of mind: funtioning also as the thread that integrates body,
breath and mind dissolving the distinction between asana, pranayama and
meditation. The effectiveness of this direct approach dispenses with the
need for any goal or dogma, at the same time as rendering irrelevant
physical capacity, giving the practice of yoga back to the unsurpassable
wisdom of the body.Godfrey is a precise, sensitive, spacious teacher who¹s
love of life and yoga is infectious and inspiring. |
