ANNEMIEKE
POST |
 |
Annemieke Post
studied at the art school in Breda (Holland) where she
completed an undergraduate course in ceramics and sculpture.
Like many others at that time, Annemieke was initially
inspired to take up yoga by reading the book an
"Autobiography of an Yogi" written by Paramahansa
Yogananda. Soon after that, she came into contact with the
teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. In that same year, she met
Dona Holleman and had her first class. Two years later she and
Victor Van Kooten started teaching yoga in Holland. She and
Victor were married in 1976.
Annemieke met Guruji for the first time in classes in London
in 1971,
and became a regular student. She also took classes with him
in Gstaad, Switzerland, and for many years traveled to and
from Switzerland, and to and from India, to take classes.
Annemieke had her fifth child in 1984. Following that, her
relationship
with Victor changed. After separating from Victor, yoga and
the raising
of her five children became the most important things in her
life. The
one helped to sustain and transform the other. In this period,
Annemieke also came into contact with the teachings of Sathya
Sai Baba.
