Pranayama: Energy Management
Type: ● [B] Breath and Energy ●
INSTRUCTOR:
Beryl Bender Birch
Class Description: Understanding pranayama in its position as the 4th limb in the classical 8-limbed yoga path. This isn't just about breathing. The means of doing pranayama may require control of the breath, but the purpose is to learn yama, or 'restraint' of prana, or 'energy', and at its core pranayama means 'energy management', or 'control of the movement of energy'. Doing pranayama correctly requires preparation in asana, and a clean and clear annamaya kosha (or physical body, or 'sheath'). Short easy introductory practice and discussion of the tradition according to the teachings of Iyengar, Desikachar, and Pattabhi Jois.
