Purely Iyengar: Confidence, Creativity, and Stability

 Joyce Zouves Van Rensburg

Class Description: If we have a strong and stable foundation on which to build, we can build an edifice that can reach to the sky! Without good, solid foundations even the most creative and masterful of architects cannot keep a structure from collapsing. In this energetic class, Joyce shows us how to work with our legs, feet, and ultimately our arms and shoulders, to build strong stable foundations for our own 'temples'. She encourages us to see that it all begins with an awareness of how to successfully extend our feet and stretch our legs and inner thighs. Using a sampling of both standing and seated asanas, an inversion and beginning arm balance or two, and using props to helps us, including blocks, belts, walls, and benches, Joyce shows us how we can creatively and confidently improve the stability of our poses and ultimately 'grow' our entire body.
